I Stapled a Piece of Paper
In this work, I stapled a piece of paper and amplified the sound of the stapling through a microphone and speaker. On the surface, it’s a simple act, but for me, it represents an internal rebellion—a confrontation with myself.
I often struggle to express my thoughts and feelings, a battle that leaves me anxious and restless. This piece became a way to navigate that tension. The amplified sound of the stapling is a deliberate overcompensation for the things left unsaid, a loud and insistent substitute for the words that don’t come easily.
The repetitive act of stapling also reflects my creative process—a contemplative meditation through which I explore meaning. Each staple becomes an expression, a mark, an effort to fill the gaps created by silence. The mechanical repetition mirrors the cycles of thought and introspection that define both my practice and my personal journey.
This work is a way of asking: how do we communicate when words fail us? How can repetition, amplification, and the simplest of actions become a language of their own?
